Story of the Prophet Musa ﷷﷵ

Moses (peace be upon him) is the most mentioned prophet in the Holy Quran. Moses was born in the time of Fir’aun, also known as Fir’aun. In religion, Islam loves and respects Moses (AS) because he (AS) is also a prophet and messenger. Muslims believed in all the messengers of Allah and the holy books revealed to them. In the Qur'an, Prophet Musa  ﷵ ﷷ is often mentioned and his story is found in several chapters of the Qur'an.

As we all know that the Messenger of Allah, the Lord of Glory, was sent to convey to the people of the world. Prophet Musa  ﷵ ﷷ was also sent to the children of Israel to worship Allah Almighty and the Holy One who was revealed to him was the Torah. In the Qur'an, God says: "Verily, We revealed the Torah to Moses, in which was guidance and light, by which the Prophets judged the Jews, and the rabbis and priests judged the Jews by the Torah." Because they were entrusted with the protection of the Book of God, and they were witnesses to it (Qur'an, 5:44).

Allah (swt) says that the story of Moses (AS) and Fir’aun is true in the Qur'an. It is a story of political conspiracy and oppression that knew no bounds. It is mentioned in the Qur'an as follows: "We narrate to you some of the news of Moses and Fir’aun with truth, for the believers. Surely Fir’aun exalted himself in the earth and made his people a sect. Weakened (one of these people) ie (the Children of Israel). Killing their sons and letting their wives live. Indeed, he was one of those who committed great sins and crimes, oppressors and oppressors.
Below we will tell the story of Musa  ﷵ ﷷ in detail from the very beginning of his birth, how he (pbuh) was brought up in the house of Fir’aun and other events of his life.

Musa  ﷵ ﷷ was born during the time of Fir’aun, which was the highest political compensation in history. Fir’aun of Egypt or Fir’aun was the dominant power in the country. He was so powerful that he presented himself as a god and no one could argue with him. It created class distinctions, divided people into groups and tribes and pitted them against each other. The Jews, the Israelites, were placed at the bottom of Egyptian society. They were slaves and servants. Moses' family was from the Children of Israel.

Shortly before the birth of Prophet Musa  ﷵ ﷷ, Fir’aun was told that a son of Israel would soon be born and that the kingdom of Fir’aun would be destroyed. On hearing this, the tyrant king ordered his soldiers to kill every male child born in Israel. From time to time Fir’aun's soldiers searched the houses of the Israelites in order to carry out Fir’aun's orders. Moses' mother had a plan for him. When she turned to the soldiers, she took Musa ﷵﷷ in her basket and placed him behind her house in the Nile River. The Qur'an mentions these words: "So We sent this revelation to the mother of Moses:" When you fear him, he throws you into the river, but do not be afraid nor grieve. He will restore him to you, and We will make him one of Our messengers. (Qur'an, 28: 7)

The basket in which Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) kept his mother was floating towards the palace of Fir’aun, where his men took her out and brought the child to her. He wanted to kill her immediately, he suspected that she might be a child of Israel, but his wife Asya, who was a pious woman, stopped him from doing so. He did not have any children of his own, so he asked her to adopt him. Fir’aun agreed to the request of his wife Asiya and then called some women to feed the crying baby. Still, the girl refused to breastfeed all the women who breastfed her except her mother. Thus, God re-introduced the mother and child into Fir’aun's palace, who was the greatest enemy of his son.

Moses was brought up in the house of Fir’aun and was familiar with the affairs of the state. When he reached puberty, who was once involved in a battle between an Israeli and an Egyptian, the latter were carelessly killed. Moses went to Madinah where he married Safura, the daughter of Shoaib. After a short stay in Midian, they returned to Egypt. On their way to Egypt on a very cold night, Prophet Musa  ﷵ ﷷ and his wife, who had lost their way, saw a fire in the distance. Musa  ﷵ ﷷ told his wife to stay where he was and he started a fire thinking that he would bring back some of it. When Moses approached the fire, he saw flames coming from a green tree, but no one was there. When Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) looked around in amazement, suddenly a voice was heard saying, "O Moses, I am your Lord!" The voice then told him to throw his stick on the ground. Immediately. It turned into a snake, which frightened him. Musa  ﷵ ﷷ was again ordered to pick up the snake without any fear and as soon as he did so, he turned back into a stick.

And then he was told that he had put his hand under his armpit. When he pulled again, his hand shone brightly like the sun. The voice of God said to him, "O Moses, these are two great signs of your Lord. Go back to Fir’aun and his people, and invite them to your Lord." After receiving these signs from God, Moses (AS) went to Fir’aun and told him that he (AS) is the Messenger of Allah, he has the proofs, Moses (AS) threw his staff on the ground and it turned into a snake. He turned to his ministers for advice, telling them that Moses was just a good sorcerer and that his own sorcerers could easily do such things.

Then Fir’aun summoned all the great magicians to his court so that they could do the same tricks as Musa  ﷵ ﷷ did. When they were told what to do, they were not upset. They threw pieces of rope on the ground and the strings began to move like snakes. But when Prophet Moses (AS) threw down his stick, he ate all the pieces of rope. The magicians immediately. He thought it was not magic but a miracle, and prostrated and said, "We believe in the faith of Moses." God, the Lord of Glory, has asked Prophet Musa  ﷵ ﷷ to warn Fir’aun that if he sticks to his ways and does not accept your faith, he will punish him and his people. But Fir’aun was very proud to hear this warning.

Therefore, there was a famine in the country for punishing him and his followers. The locusts ate the crops. The Nile flooded its banks and wreaked havoc. People suffered from lice and tumors. When all this happened, the people came to Prophet Musa  ﷵ ﷷ to pray for his relief and promised to follow his religion. But when he was cured and his condition improved, he returned to his idolatry.

Moses gathered the people of Israel and left for Palestine. When Fir’aun heard of their escape, he followed them with a large army. When Musa  ﷵ ﷷ reached the Red Sea with the people of Israel, he saw Fir’aun coming towards them and he was sure that they were being killed. Still, Prophet Musa  ﷵ ﷷ hit the sea water with his stick and the water separated, and made a dry path. People passed safely. When Fir’aun saw the way, he entered the sea at the head of his army. But when he was in the middle of the ocean, the water suddenly stopped flowing around him and his people. Thus, Fir’aun and his army drowned in the river.
